Jr. Litigation Associate
2+ Years Experience
OVERVIEW
We are seeking an associate attorney with a minimum of 2 years of relevant civil litigation experience to assist our small legal team manage both civil and business litigation matters from our Little Italy offices in San Diego, CA. The position will involve working directly with our small litigation team to support a growing caseload. The right candidate will spend a majority of their time supporting the discovery process including drafting and responding to written discovery, aiding in trial preparation, assisting with motion work, performing legal research, and providing general assistance to the firm’s two lead trial attorneys and lead paralegal.
This is a flexible part-time hourly position with Full Time Salaried Opportunity
Qualifications
Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an accredited law school
Active member in good standing with the California Bar
2+ years of direct experience in civil litigation
Employment, Real Estate and/or Commercial Litigation Experience a plus
Must have strong research and writing skills and knowledge of California and Federal procedure
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Detail-oriented and self-organized
Strong oral and written communication skills
Enjoy legal research, drafting causes of action, the discovery process and the nuances of litigation
Ability to manage multiple types of cases and dynamic deadlines
Full competence with most types of motion work
Experience taking depositions is a plus; physical trial experience a plus (but not a requirement)
Basic competency with Westlaw; a passion for legal research a plus
Prefer the MAC operating systems rather than PC/Windows (not required)
Dependable transportation to/from the Little Italy neighborhood of San Diego
Openness to work both in the Little Italy office and remotely, as based on weekly projects and support needed

Compensation
Commensurate with experience. Structured as an initial part-time position (15-25hrs/week) with intent to transition to a full-time (30-40hrs/week) position. Full time position includes competitive salary, medical, dental, vision insurance and IRA plan with Company Contributions.

Jr. Paralegal
0-5 Yrs Legal Experience

We are seeking a diligent and proactive Junior Paralegal to join our dynamic civil litigation team. The successful candidate will support the FIrm’s Lead Paralegal with all facets of corporate and civil litigation; conduct legal research; and manage document retrieval, organization, and indexing. A significant portion of your role will involve managing legal discovery processes, including the collection, review, and production of documents, preparing discovery requests and responses, and utilizing e-discovery SaaS tools for culling discovery and redacting.
This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines. The Junior Paralegal will also support attorneys by maintaining and organizing files, tracking and calendaring case deadlines, and coordinating with clients and court officials. This entry-level position is ideal for a recent paralegal studies graduate or someone with 1-3 years of hands-on paralegal experience, looking to grow their expertise in a supportive, challenging and ever-changing legal environment.
This is a full-time position (35-40hrs/week) but can be structured for the right candidate as a part-time (15-20hrs/week) position
Qualifications

Education: Possession of a paralegal certificate or degree in paralegal studies from an accredited program is preferred (or on a clear path to acquiring such an accreditation within 3 months).
Experience: Some practical experience in a legal setting, preferably in civil litigation, is advantageous. Experience with legal research, drafting shells, and working directly on discovery processes would be particularly valuable.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in using legal research platforms (such as Westlaw or LexisNexis) and familiarity with e-discovery software a plus but not required. Strong competence with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel is essential.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are crucial for effectively drafting documents, corresponding with clients, and collaborating with the courts, opposing counsel, co-counsel, and our internal legal team.
Organizational Abilities: Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, prioritize workloads, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail is required for organizing files, managing extensive documentation, and tracking case progress and deadlines.
Technology Comfort: Completely comfortable within the MAC Operating System, Adobe Pro, Microsoft Word, and Clio. Do you work best with dual monitors? Do you posses a sense of technological efficiency (this includes AI and eDiscovery tools)?
Dependability and Consistency: Dependable and consistent transportation to the Little Italy Neighborhood of Downtown (Trolley stop one block away). Live and work downtown?
Compensation
Commensurate with experience ($25-$30 hr+)
